Stakeholders aimed to motivate users to complete their profiles thoroughly to improve job matching effectiveness. By integrating guidance on profile strength and introducing user delight as they observed their score increase, users were encouraged to complete their profiles.

Research Insights showed that users typically do not complete their profile/resume upon initial onboarding. Providing users with a snapshot of incomplete sections, encouraged profile completion through prompt feedback.

This was accomplished by emphasizing the value proposition of skill assessments and their significance, alongside refining messaging and enhancing transparency in skill matching and recommendations.

Research revealed a tendency for users to leave profiles incomplete at first, prompting the need for a non-linear creation process. We transitioned from a single verification screen to seamlessly integrating verification as users input their information.

Streamlining steps for faster completion, we've simplified the information architecture and created a more organized, easily digestible flow, particularly as user profiles fill up.

Providing an ongoing profile space, allowing users to add and update information as needed, initiating the flow upon signup and returning later to edit. Leveraging consistent components and layouts ensures familiarity, expediting the buildout process.

To start, I developed a project timeline outlining the team members, objectives, activities, stages of the UX process, and deliverables for each week during the sprint. My project managers reviewed it, provided feedback, and updates were communicated as changes were made.

The primary goals I aimed to identify were:

  1. What are the painpoints and frustrations for users during onboarding and profile creation through Talent Hubs.

  2. What are the areas of opportunity to add value for users to complete their profiles.

  3. Where are the flaws on there current experience and how can we enhance them to achieve our goals.

During the initial onboarding set-up a portfolio or profile, the drop-off rate can reach as high as 60%

Users often find long registration forms overwhelming and tedious.

Poorly designed flow can lead to user confusion and frustration during the profile setup process.

Compared six competitors in the TalentHub industry:

  • Onboarding was initiated but allowed users to skip for later completion.

  • Abundant value propositions were provided.

  • Transparent guidance was consistently offered throughout the experience.

  • Profile creation was highly streamlined.

I kicked off by sketching abstract ideas using HMW questions, emphasizing flexibility, and maintaining a focus on output and creativity.

Zooming in on the verification solution to verify user info during onboarding, I used an impact vs effort matrix to prioritize two solutions for testing and validating.

From here we moved forward with two solutions to approach adding verification into the onboarding profile creations. Integrated verification vs. post input verification.

Next I identified all user steps, tasks, and stories involved in order to implement this solution. Then developed the user flows considering the user tasks.

Then, I transitioned into Low-fi & Mid-fi wireflows, emphasizing documenting the visual journey and user interactions.

A/B Testing

To determine the most intuitive and viable solution, I conducted an A/B test through Maze with high fidelity protoypes. I created a survey script with a goal to identify user behavior, confusion, success, and if they could get the task done.

Solution Feedback Results

Solution A: Users noted pain points related to delayed feedback, verification issues, and security and privacy concerns.

Solution B: Users appreciated the verification control and instant feedback but had concerns about verification transparency.

Metric Results

Deciding on Bounce rate and profile completion rate being our key performace indicator, I compared A to B to help inform the decision on which solution to move forward with.

Focusing on the chosen solution, I identified opportunities to increase the verification click rate through enhanced transparency and visibility.

From there I used heat mapping results to find an area of opportunity to boost verfication even further, then retested with the new iterations for comparison.

Results

Post integration, with all features and solutions implemented, we had remarkable growth in profile completion, decreased drop-off rate, and successful verification rollout.
